Another weekend is almost upon us and another week goes by so incredibly fast. This week, I have had to be a tyrant in a couple of situations to a couple of people in real estate (my other world) as they tried to pull the wool over my eyes as I was protecting clients. There is nothing like being prepared and putting people back in their lane when they think you don’t know as much as them, or that you are not as good as them.. it’s often thinly-veiled or even blatant racism but nothing beats audience. When you bring the people and your people bring the money you will always have the floor, even if it takes a while. I despise Elitists, Users, Racists in denial, Liars and Hypocrites (I think I just described the industry, laugh). Why is it SO hard to come across people who are just willing to be themselves?
Michael Baisden better get off his ass and get to work, write a book or two and propose a TV show FAST bruh. Citadel is on some Donny Osmond shit and Baisden better hope he’s not considered the other “One Bad Apple” at the company as they “restructure.” I have been contacted by reps at Citadel before as well as other syndication companies who have asked me if I had any ideas for a show as well as TV people. Let me say this and let me say this NOW. Stop doubting yourself and always be prepared for an opportunity to advance. Surround yourself with WINNERS instead of negative ass naysayers who are just “surviving” get around people who are LIVING… shit, life is short. While it may not appear this way, I have been a procrastinator and I have passed up so many opportunities and that shit stops this week. We should never be content on struggling or waiting for someone else to determine our destiny. Hell yes I have ideas do you?
This new concept with Jelli to have listeners pick their favorite songs for airplay is very interesting. I was reading how those 2 white guys got 2 million from Angel investors and I think it’s a great idea. Will this replace programming if it works? I would venture to say no but it will be a very strong contender. Listeners picking their own songs for radio? Radio is still Number 1 when it comes to ad revenue and listenership and I’ve always questioned radio research and I don’t like it. Urban radio is about so much more than that and we know it. We CREATE trends, we don’t follow them but we are losing audience and advertising too. We BETTER come up with some concepts before it’s too late.
I have been taken off most lists for TV and Movie events because I left LA for 6 years and moved to Atlanta (That was a horrendous mistake but very valuable at the same time). I assigned certain people who BEGGED me for tickets to go to the many events while I was gone but they often failed to show up, fucking me up. One of which I’m having Sushi with today. (Thursday is Sushi Day). Lesson learned, don’t call me for shit. I don’t ask my clients for anything so don’t ask me to ask them for shit.. be honest with the people inviting you to events. Now I have to rebuild that shit all over again because I would LOVE to write for a TV show at this point in my life and I have a great interest in TV and film.
Tiger Woods is going to speak tomorrow. I guess he’s going to cry and say he was sorry for fooking an entire state of blond bimbos. I keep thinking about the white guy who wrote that hilarious piece on Al Sharpton accusing Tiger for his “Lack of Mistress Diversity” by not choosing a black woman. I laughed till my balls hurt. That shit was so funny. Tiger’s biggest “sin” (I mean what does that really mean “sin”) was that he was married. He should not be married if he wants to live that lifestyle. Who gives a shit.
Bo Griffen was such an incredible talent. It is most unfortunate she found out about her cancer in the late stages. PLEASE GET YOURSELF CHECKED, include a colonoscopy to make sure you are OK. If you have insurance you have what is now the ULTIMATE luxury. I will give Radio One and Clear Channel credit for not cutting that shit out. If you have it, USE IT, it may save your fooking life friends.
