106.7 WLLZ Detroit’s Wheels, Classic Rock That Rocks, announced today that they will be releasing a new vinyl album, titled “Motor City Rocks 2022,” to honor the station’s rock legacy. “Motor City Rocks 2022” was exclusively manufactured at Third Man Pressing in Detroit, and made in collaboration with Prudential Music Group executive producers Jason Hartless Sr. and Jason Hartless Jr. The album’s official release date is August 12th and will be available at record stores across the metro Detroit region and limited to an exclusive 1,000 copies.

The “Motor City Rocks 2022” vinyl album will include Mike Skill from the Romantics featuring with Wayne Kramer of The MC5; Pat Smillie featuring Jim McCarty (Rockets & Cactus, Mitch Ryder); Kenny Olsen (former guitar player for Kid Rock’s Twisted Brown Trucker Band); Sponge; Kaleido; Critical Bill; Artificial Agent; Gasoline Gypsies; Detroit Classic Rockers Seduce and Toby Redd featuring Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers).

“We were looking for something that would honor the original WLLZ,” said Doug Podell, PM Drive host for 106.7. “In Detroit, we are so lucky to have a wealth of local artists that are worth featuring and with the explosion of vinyl albums making a comeback – this seemed like a perfect project.”

“If you’re a music lover, you’ll appreciate this album and want it to be a part of your collection,” said Casey Krukowski, Program Director for 106.7 Detroit Wheels. “This is a real slice of Detroit rock history.”

In addition, a showcase concert featuring some of the bands featured on the album is scheduled for October 7 and October 8 at The Token Lounge in Westland, MI.
