Born in Jamaica, and raised in Canada & America, Shaggy has been a staple in the dancehall music scene for over three decades, having worked with artists across all music genres such as Sean Paul, Eve, and Kylie Minogue. Joining him is Trinidadian soca superstar, Bunji Garlin, whose collaboration with Major Lazer’s Jillionaire for the single, “Television,” has become a summer hit with its edgy, dance & Hip Hop vibes. Garlin is no stranger to the Reggae & Soca Tip stage; check out his energetic performance from 2014’s show here.
Also taking the stage is Jamaican dancehall artist, Mr. Vegas. After a brief hiatus from music, Mr. Vegas officially returned in 2012 to high accolades with two International Reggae and World Music Awards & a MOBO Award nomination for his album, Sweet Jamaica, which was also named “Top 50 albums of 2012” by Google Music. This past spring, Mr. Vegas called into Ebro in the Morning to discuss popular artists like Drake and Rihanna using reggae and dancehall samples in their hit songs.
