iHeart Names PD Seeks APD

Alek Halverson

iHeartMedia San Antonio announced today that Alek Halverson has been named Program Director for KJ97, effective immediately.

iHeartMedia San Antonio has a strong cross-platform presence and includes a number of iconic brands and franchises — both broadcast and digital — encompassing more than eight stations comprised of music, talk, and news formats.

iHeartMedia has the leading consumer reach and influence across multiple platforms and delivers more live programming than any other media company.

As Program Director, Halverson will be responsible for leading and managing all aspects of KJ97’s on-air experience, including talent, content, programming, and online presence. He will report to Jason McCollim, Senior Vice President of Programming for iHeartMedia San Antonio and Austin.

“Alek is one of the rising stars within iHeartMedia,” said McCollim. “With his tremendous knowledge of the country music format, we knew he was the right person to lead this excellent brand. I know our entire team in San Antonio is excited to watch him take the reins and elevate the brand of KJ97.

Let’s Go!”
Halverson joins iHeartMedia San Antonio market from its sister market iHeartMedia Austin, where he most recently served as the Assistant Program Director for 96.7 KISS FM. He also served and will continue as the Afternoon Drive Talent for KASE 101. He began his career at KVOX in Fargo, North Dakota.

“I couldn’t be more excited to be programming KJ97,” said Halverson. “Going to high school in San Antonio, I fell in love with the city and the state of Texas. Getting to run one of the biggest country stations in San Antonio is a dream come true and I can’t thank iHeartMedia enough for this opportunity.”
