United Stations Radio Networks, Inc. (USRN), is excited to announce that THE LEX & TERRY MORNING SHOW has made a return to the airwaves in Jacksonville, FL as the popular morning show has been added to the lineup at iHeart Media’s 97.3 Planet Radio. Additionally, Lex & Terry were added recently in the Palmdale/Los Angeles market on KKZQ (“The Edge”) as well as in Sioux Falls, SD where the duo are heard doing mornings at KRRO-FM. The announcement came today from USRN’s Managing Director of Affiliate Relations Stefan Jones along with the show’s co-hosts, Lex Staley and Terry Jaymes.
In Jacksonville, iHeart Media’s 97.3 Planet Radio has already starting broadcasting Lex and Terry in Morning Drive. This addition is significant as Lex Staley and Terry Jaymes became a “team” in Jacksonville in 1992. It was their gigantic success in that market that led to the duo’s decision in 1997 to take the program into national syndication where it has thrived ever since. Lex & Terry were once heard in Jacksonville on WPLA-FM, The Planet, where they were ranked #1 among Adults 25-54, but they came off of that station when it changed format and call letters in August of 2010. The new Planet Radio which uses the slogan “Jacksonville’s Real Rock” originates on an HD channel of WKSL-FM, and is also on the FM dial at 97.3.
Regarding the re-addition of their original market to the show, Lex and Terry Show expressed that they are both thrilled and eager to be communicating with their old fans again. Lex Staley commented, “The show never feels quite right when we’re not on in Jacksonville. It’s the birthplace of the best talk show in America, and we really only feel whole when Lex & Terry are on the air there.” Terry Jaymes added, “Our lives are complete now…It’s time to wreak some havoc!” iHeart Media’s SVPP/Jacksonville, Tommy Bodean, also shared his excitement saying, “We are thrilled to have Lex & Terry back on the air. They’re well-known and loved here in town, and it’s a real game-changer for Planet Radio.”
Lex & Terry currently house their broadcast operations in Dallas, TX. Lex Staley has a long history in radio both on the air and in various management capacities including having been a Program Director. Terry Jaymes comes from a background of comedy, television and live performance, and together they’ve got over 50 years of combined radio experience.
