JusNik In The Afternoon

JusNik, Brooklyn-born, Queens-raised, was adopted at six months old and grew up in the foster care system, moving with her family to Huntsville, Alabama, at the age of 15. She learned to use and hone her voice early, and her drive helped her win a student internship at WEUP-FM, a 100,000-watt urban heritage station in Huntsville.

She continued learning and volunteering while earning a degree from Alabama A&M University and was offered her first on-air shift at Adult Contemporary station WHRP-FM, working weeknights from 7 p.m. to midnight. Shortly after graduating, she landed a position as a morning show co-host for Cox Radio’s “BuckWilde Morning Show” at WBHJ, 95.7 JAMZ in Birmingham.

She remained with the station through multiple changes, continuing as co-host for two later editions of the popular morning show; The Magic City Morning Show with Dwight Stone and Comedian Funnymaine, and The Roy Wood Jr Show featuring Comedy Central “The Daily Show” with Trevor Noah Comedian, Roy Wood Jr.

When SummitMedia purchased WBHJ, 95.7 Jamz in 2013, she became the host of a new program, “Midday Kickback with NuYork,” as well as hosting middays on CHR WHZT-FM, Hot 98.1, in Greenville, South Carolina, where she dominated the market with a #1 show, 18-34. In 2014 she became program director of WBHJ, taking the station to unparalleled ratings success. Even during Covid, as stations across the country saw constriction, she continued building and gaining share. Upon her departure, her show, the newly named Midday Kickback, had a 20.7 share in her targeted 18-34 demo while also winning the hearts of the more mature crowd of 25-54! She is the new afternoon drive host at WBLS in New York.
