Oak View Group (OVG), the global venue development, advisory, and investment company for both the sports and live entertainment industries, today announced that finance and operations executive Gary McAneney has joined the company as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer (CFO) of UBS Arena at Belmont Park, New York’s newest premier entertainment and sports venue and home of the New York Islanders. Based in the Mid-Atlantic region, McAneney starts his new role effective immediately and will report to Francesca Bodie, president of business development for OVG, and Kim Stone, president of UBS Arena and executive vice president of OVG East Coast.
“OVG has experienced unmatched industry growth over the last year, and Gary’s bold leadership and dynamic experience will be instrumental as we continue to steam ahead. We look forward to having him aboard,” said Bodie.
With more than 30 years of experience, McAneney will lead financial operations across all OVG owned and operated venues within its ever-expanding business development division, plus oversee finance functions at UBS Arena.
Stone commented, “I’m pleased to welcome Gary to the team at UBS Arena. With his diverse background in all financial disciplines, and proven ability to make valuable contributions, Gary will play a critical role at UBS Arena and be an asset across all other OVG divisions given his extensive experience in the industry.”
Before joining OVG, McAneney served as senior vice president of finance and global solutions since 2019 with ASM Global in West Conshohocken, PA. While there, he was responsible for maximizing growth, profitability, and efficiencies at 330+ ASM Global venues worldwide. In addition to developing business solutions to maximize contract profitability, he was instrumental in establishing programs that enhance venue contribution margin in areas such as event income, food and beverage, and sponsorships.
“I’m excited to join the world-class team at Oak View Group, and for the opportunity to work with the most progressive and dynamic company in our industry. The quality of leadership and vision within OVG is unparalleled,” said McAneney. “Just like with many other OVG venues, UBS Arena rewrote the story on combining top-shelf amenities with music and professional hockey in New York and I’m delighted to be a part of the venue’s next chapter.”
McAneney worked for SMG for 20 years where he served as senior vice president of finance, overseeing financial and accounting reporting for all of SMG’s operating contracts including Mercedes Benz Superdome (New Orleans), NRG Stadium (Houston), Soldier Field (Chicago), U.S. Bank Stadium (Minneapolis), and Moscone Center (San Francisco).
McAneney has been a certified public accountant since 1992 and earned a Bachelor of Arts in economics and business administration from Ursinus College, Collegeville PA.
