We are thrilled to announce that Thea Mitchem has just extended her agreement with iHeartMedia. She will continue in her capacity as the EVP of Programming for the Northeast Division. This includes overseeing more than 60 stations in various markets. Mitchem was recently profiled in RFFocus Magazine (now RFFocus Magazine) as one of our featured Women of Color in Media for our annual magazine spotlighting successful Women of Color this past August. For RFFocus Breakfast Club fans, Mitchem is the Program Director for the wildly popular Breakfast Club featuring Charlamagne Tha God, DJ Envy and Angela Yee at Power 105.1 in NYC. Her response to her promotion to RFFocus today was:
“I’ve been able to thrive and grow within iHeartMedia and appreciate their commitment to growing talent in all sectors, on air, behind the scenes and within the Executive ranks. I feel a great sense of responsibility to not just show that women and minorities can contribute to the success of a station or company but can lead companies to success” “I hope that the next generation of women and minorities are inspired to keep kicking the doors down so there is more diversity at the highest levels of media and entertainment and I will do my part to foster those opportunities and be a resource”.
iHeartMedia’s EVP Doc Wynter Urban/Hip Hop Programming Strategy & Program Director Real 92.3 Los Angeles commented to RFFocus : “I’m so happy to see my sister Thea-Thea crush the proverbial glass ceiling and pave the way for other future great women in radio.”
