UMPG PRESENTS SKYLAR GREY WITH RIAA DIAMOND AWARD FOR HER GLOBAL HIT — “LOVE THE WAY YOU LIE”
LOS ANGELES, CA (January 06, 2016) — Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG) President – North America Evan Lamberg presented Skylar Grey with an RIAA Diamond Award for her global hit song, “Love the Way You Lie,” by Eminem feat. Rihanna, which has sold over 11 million singles in the U.S. alone. Skylar Grey co-wrote the song along with UMPG songwriters Alex Da Kid and Eminem.
“Skylar is a special person & her music is just incredible,“ said Lamberg during the presentation. “You rarely see awards anymore at the 10 million unit Diamond level, and very few songwriters are capable of writing songs the way Skylar does.”
Prepping for a new album release in 2016 and wrapping a tour with X Ambassadors, Skylar Grey recently released her new single, “Cannonball” (Interscope/KIDinaKORNER), which has already streamed over 1.6 million times on Spotify, nearly 800,000 plays on YouTube, and reached No.6 on the Billboard Alternative Digital chart. The song is also currently featured in 2016 FIFA Soundtrack. Grey is also responsible for co-writing chart-topping songs totaling more than 25 million singles sold worldwide. She’s worked alongside some of the biggest artists in the world, co-writing and featuring on songs with Dr. Dre, Eminem, Nicki Minaj, will.i.am, Zedd, Kid Cudi, Diddy, Moby, David Guetta, Kaskade, Cee Lo, T.I. and many more.
Most recently, Grey’s No.1 iTunes song “I Know You,” which she co-wrote and recorded with writer/producer Stephan Moccio (another UMPG writer), was featured in the Fifty Shades Of Grey film & soundtrack. She also contributed to the latest installment of the massively successful Furious 7 Soundtrack, with her song “I Will Return.”
